I am retired and I don’t relate to any of this. You’re omitting everything you gain, including in terms of health due to less stress and more time to exercise, cook, eat properly, sleep.

You have painted an absurdly dark picture. It doesn’t have to be that way, at all.

I entered the second stage of retirement—the good one—about a year ago and right on time, as I retired in 2021, and I can pretty much vouch for everything you’ve written. Now I’ve got to figure out how to spend more money! The bad thing is what I like to do most is hike and doing that is cheap.
